Outreach

Individual Outreach

Peer outreach workers also work in a collective manner, broaching topics ranging from the prevention of STIs to the debunking of street culture, as well as the development of organizational skills. Collective intervention often takes the form of playful group activities or awareness-raising workshops.

The topics most often discussed during individual outreach interventions are harm reduction, substance use management, interpersonal relationships, sexuality, emotion management and autonomy. The peer support workers use the informal interactions to provide information related to STBBI prevention and to promote health through harm reduction.

Group Outreach

Peer outreach workers also work in a collective manner, broaching topics ranging from the prevention of STIs to the debunking of street culture, as well as the development of organizational skills. Collective intervention often takes the form of playful group activities or awareness-raising workshops.

Whether it is through partner organizations, colleges, or the framework of the Festival d’expression de la rue (FER), various activities are put on peer outreach workers in order to meet these objectives.
